How to Brew Saffron

Saffron is most expensive spice in the world, with the most incredible colour and aroma.

Brewing saffron develops its color and aroma. That’s why  it is always better to brew it first with the simple steps below.


What you need

  • Saffron stigmas
  • Boiling water


Special Equipment

Mortar and pestle or a grinder




  1. Place the saffron stigmas in your mortar or grinder
  2. Grind until you have powdered the saffron.
  3. Pour over boiling water. Please remember 1/3 tea spoon of Saffron powder needs 3 table spoon of boiling water.
  4. Cover with a lid and let sit for about 15 minutes.
